Voluntary work connects a wide variety of people and enriches society in many ways. Whether it’s in a sports club, supporting the disadvantaged or in the cultural sector: Oftentimes, nothing works without the commitment of volunteers!  

The numerous initiatives, associations and communities bring many people together in Saxony-Anhalt. 800,000 people - about one in three inhabitants - are engaged on a voluntary basis here. This puts Saxony-Anhalt at the top of the list among the eastern German states.  

By the way: the vocational training also benefits from people performing voluntary work. In many areas, volunteer examiners ensure the quality of the training.
