Many immigrants and refugees come from countries where the educational and vocational system differs significantly from the German system. Competences, experiences and strengths of the person thus remain hidden at first, because they cannot be formally proven (for instance, because deeds, testimonials and certificates are missing). A person without these credentials may still be suitable for a job or training that requires certain qualifications. Competence assessment procedures are a way of making skills and experience visible and can be a helpful tool for guidance on integration into employment and training. Employment agencies, job centres and independent guidance and training providers offer competence assessment procedures. At the end of the procedures, you always receive an evaluation of the tests and/or observations, and an assessment of the competences as a written document.
In our Information library, you can find a lot of interesting information on these topics and others concerning counselling and support for immigrants and refugees.
