Intercultural offers in Saxony-Anhalt

A large number of migrant communities in Saxony-Anhalt have founded their own associations. They provide meeting places for communities and champion the interests of people with a migration history. Some associations also offer regular courses, for instance: painting, dancing or various languages. Our regional advisors will be happy to provide information about the services available in your area. An initial overview of migrant organisations in Saxony-Anhalt can be found on the pages of the “Landesnetzwerk Migrantenorganisationen Sachsen-Anhalt e. V.“ (LAMSA) and the “Auslandsgesellschaft Sachsen-Anhalt e. V.“ (AGSA).

In many cities and municipalities in Saxony-Anhalt there are neighbourhood meeting places and intercultural meeting places. Among other things, they are aimed at people who are new to Saxony-Anhalt and want to connect with others. People meet there to talk, eat together or pursue common hobbies. Here are a few examples:

Sponsorship programmes are another way to help people find their way around a new place of residence and to get to know new people. Those who are interested can register and pairs will be formed: one person who is new to Saxony-Anhalt and one person who has lived here for some time. For instance, there are the Arrival Sponsorships for Refugees in Halle, Family Sponsorships, the project "Menschen stärken Menschen“ in Magdeburg and the Language Sponsors in Wittenberg

Celebrating together is a wonderful opportunity to experience the many cultures and traditions that are native to Saxony-Anhalt. In Magdeburg, for instance, the Fest der Kulturen (Festival of Cultures) and the Fest der Begegnungen (Festival of Encounters) are held once a year. In addition, the Intercultural Week takes place every year throughout Germany, this year from 24 September until 1 October 2023.
