Recognising the specific challenges that arise due to the individual migration history of those seeking advice is often a difficult task. Counselling, which takes the experiences of migrants into account, means, in this case, showing immigrants action-oriented ways of entering the employment market in Saxony-Anhalt. Migrants often face similar challenges when integrating within the employment market, which differ from German applicants (e.g. clarification of the legal residence situation, possible experiences of discrimination, a different understanding of counselling, little knowledge of the German education system, etc.). Volunteers who advise migrants in the employment market integration process need corresponding migration-informed counselling skills in order to be able to offer better support.
In our Information library we offer more in-depth information on strategies for migration-informed counselling and other support.
