When do you use the term "immigration" (Einwanderung) and when "migration" (Zuwanderung)? According to the Mediendienst Integration service, the two terms are often used interchangeably: "However, policymakers have enforced a substantive distinction: Officially, someone is only an immigrant if entry and residence are planned and authorised for the long term from the outset".
