How can counselling institutions in Saxony-Anhalt address EU citizens even more specifically and provide them with more needs-based support? We discussed this with other counselling centres in Magdeburg on 25 June 2024. It became clear that the target group of EU citizens is anything but homogeneous and has different needs depending on their life situation. Differences relate, for example, to the level of qualification, age and intended length of stay in Saxony-Anhalt. These differences must also be taken into account when addressing and advising EU citizens. Among other things, we have identified multilingual services in the respective native languages, more targeted initial information on free support services and the development of structures within the communities as overarching needs. To this end, increased networking and the expansion of information, particularly on local support services, is expedient.
