Priority check
Before a work permit can be issued by the Foreigners' Authority, the priority check is carried out by the employment agency. The following three criteria are looked into: the impact of the employment on the labour market; whether preferential candidates are available as well as the specific working conditions. In Saxony-Anhalt, the priority check has been temporarily suspended. Individuals with a residence permit or toleration permit can now be given access to employment after a waiting period of 3 months.
