Distance learning schools
It is also possible to catch up on a school-leaving certificate at distance learning schools. Attendance is not compulsory here and participants learn the content independently. This type of school is offered by private, state-recognised educational institutions. It is associated with costs.
Non-pupil examination
Individuals who are not enrolled at a school may apply for admission to a non-pupil examination at the State Education Office of Saxony-Anhalt if they meet the requirements. They can then take an examination to obtain the Hauptschulabschluss, Realschulabschluss or Hochschulabschluss without attending school, which, if passed, leads to the respective leaving qualification. The application for admission to the examination must be submitted to the State Education Office by 15 December.
The adult education centres (VHS) in Saxony-Anhalt as well as independent educational institutions offer the opportunity to prepare for the non-student examination in courses.
